The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is working hard to improve its services to the citizens of Alabama. Using advancements in technology, ALEA is pleased to offer online renewalsonline scheduling, kiosk renewals at driver license offices and a digital driver license for your mobile device.

ALEA has made significant progress in modernizing the Driver License system to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. On average, Alabama issues around 1.2 million licenses each year.

Our Citizen Services Locator Map will help citizens identify and locate the closest office and the services it offers.

Beginning November 1, 2015, ALEA will reopen a Satellite Office on a limited schedule in each county that lost services due to a reallocation of staffing after the recent budget cuts by the legislature. Please click here to see the schedule.

ALEA has updated its process so you can easily update your address in the state driver license system without having to purchase a new license or ID card. Just fill out the new Change of Address Form and sent it back to us or drop it off at any Driver License Office. The form may also be used to register to vote or update your voter registration address.

For Alabama residents who temporarily live out of state that need to renew their license, but cannot conveniently make it back to a driver license office, ALEA accepts this Out of State Renewal Form. Please fill out this document and return to ALEA with the appropriate documentation and fee.
