On Monday, March 30, at approximately 3:50 p.m., at the request of the Monroeville Police Department, Special Agents assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into an in-custody death.
Ammarin Lada Tunstall, 35, of Monroeville, was arrested by Officers with the Monroeville Police Department on Monday, March 30. During the course of the incident, Tunstall became unresponsive and emergency personnel administered a dose of Naloxone (Narcan), which is a life-saving medicine in the form of a nasal spray that can revive a person who has overdosed on opioids. Tunstall’s body has been released to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (ADFS) for an autopsy.
Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
