On Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched a death investigation at the request of the Bullock County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred near the 3000 Block of Alabama Highway 51 in Midway within Bullock County. The victim, later identified as James O. Tolbert, 69, of Midway, was found deceased at the scene. Special Agents are currently assisting the Bullock County Sheriff Office with the investigation.
Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Bullock County District Attorney’s Office.
