On Saturday, July 18, at the request of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Special Agents assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into an officer-involved shooting involving a Deputy with the Madison County Sheriff Office.
The incident occurred when Deputies with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to an in-progress Domestic Violence call within the 100 Block of Pulley Lane in Toney within Madison County. As Deputies arrived on scene, they encountered a female that was being chased by a male suspect armed with a handgun, who was actively shooting at the female. A Deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office fired his weapon, striking the armed male suspect. The male suspect, later identified as Jody Drake Jr., 42, of Toney, was transported to the Huntsville Hospital for medical treatment. The female victim involved in the incident was not injured. Deputies were also not injured during the incident.
Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Madison County District Attorney’s Office.
