On Friday, Aug. 22, at the request of the Tallassee Police Department, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into an officer‐involved shooting involving officers with the Tallassee Police Department.
At approximately 3:05 p.m. officers with the Tallassee Police Department responded to a domestic violence call for service within the 2900 Block of Notasulga Road in Tallassee within Tallapoosa County. During the course of the incident, an individual armed with a firearm discharged the weapon causing officers to shoot the suspect. The suspect, later identified as Adam Davis, 38, was transported by helicopter to Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, Ga., for medical treatment. No officers were injured during the course of the incident.
A federal detainer has been issued for Davis by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Once released from the hospital the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office will transport Davis to the Muscogee County Jail for extradition back to Alabama. Davis also has pending charges for Domestic Violence.
Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Office of the District Attorney Fifth Judicial Circuit.
