Application for a Renewal or Duplicate License for Alabama Drivers who are Temporarily Out of State due to Military, Employment, College, Missionary work or Under a Doctor’s Care. Please see form for any special instructions.
An Alabama citizen with a driver license or identification card may update their address without charge. A new license or card, however, will not be reissued. Complete and mail it to ALEA or drop it by any ALEA Driver License Office throughout the state. Alabama State law requires Alabama residents to notify ALEA within 30 days of changing their address. Additionally, you may also use this form to Register to Vote or update your voter registration address. An original signature is required, so it cannot be emailed or faxed. To obtain a license/ID card with the new address, you may visit a County Probate Judge/License Commissioner’s office or an ALEA driver license testing office and purchase a duplicate.
