On Wednesday, Sept. 24, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation regarding a missing individual and her child.
According to information provided by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI), Shardee McGill, 32, and her child, were last believed to be in Jackson, Miss., on Sunday, Sept. 21. McGill’s vehicle, a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, was found in the Epes Community within Sumter County located in Alabama on Tuesday, Sept. 23. ALEA’s SBI, Aviation Unit, and Marine Patrol Division, along with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office in Ala., the Jackson Police Department in Miss., MBI, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Jackson, Miss., Field Office and Birmingham, Ala., Field Office, immediately launched an extensive search to locate McGill and the minor.
On Thursday, Sept. 25, the body of an adult female was located in the Tombigbee River in Sumter County. On Friday, Sept. 26, a child’s body was also located in the Tombigbee River. The identities of both individuals are currently pending confirmation by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (ADFS).
Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing.
