On Saturday, Nov. 22, at the request of the Troy Police Department, Special Agents assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into an officer‐involved shooting involving an officer with the Troy Police Department.
The incident occurred after officers with the Troy Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Justin Cook, 29, of Banks, refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. Ultimately, officers with the Troy Police Department located the vehicle and Cook at a residence in the 2000 Block of Pike County 6629, located within Pike County. Cook fired at officers from the residence, causing an officer to return fire, striking Cook. Cook was initially transported to Troy Regional Medical Center for treatment but was later transferred to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. No officers were injured over the course of the incident.
Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Pike County District Attorney’s Office.
