The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Driver License Division is pleased to announce the upcoming relocation of the Limestone County Driver License Office to a larger, more accessible facility in Athens.
The current office, located inside the Limestone County Courthouse Annex at 100 S. Clinton Street, will close at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025. ALEA’s new office, located at 503 S. Jefferson Street, Suite A, Athens, AL 35611, will open to the public at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
ALEA worked closely with the Limestone County Commission to make this move possible. The new facility offers a larger service area, dedicated waiting space, and expanded parking, enhancing convenience and comfort for residents of Athens and surrounding communities.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Limestone County Commission for their continued support and partnership,” said Holley Cook, Director of ALEA’s Driver License Division. “This move will allow us to better accommodate the growing number of customers we serve each day, while improving efficiency and comfort for everyone who visits.”
ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor added, “As communities across Alabama grow, ALEA remains committed to meeting their needs through strategic investments in facilities, technology and customer service. The new Athens office reflects that commitment and our strong partnership with local leaders.”
